The JDRF Mission Office is proud to announce a new program for T1D young adults called the JDRF Students With Diabetes Internship Program. This program is aimed at T1Ds age 18-24 in college or graduate school and is US based.
The goal of the JDRF Students With Diabetes Internship Program is to introduce young adults living with T1D to the various professional opportunities within the diabetes industry, diabetes research entities, and community organizations while equipping them with the necessary skills and experience to advance their careers. To accomplish this goal, we need your help! We respectfully request that you consider where you could host an intern during the summer of 2018.
Intern applications are due to JDRF by January 5, 2018. Finalists will be announced in late January 2018 and then finalist applications provided to potential host sites for review before February 1st. Our goal is for host sites to offer Internships to qualified candidates in March 2018.
All internships occur during the summer months and are approximately 8 weeks in duration. Host sites are asked to pay interns a traditional stipend of approximately $2,500 for the summer. This allows the interns to cover their living expenses while working. Interns are employed by the host companies, not JDRF. JDRF serves as a talent agent in this program.
The internship application package will include:
- Letter of Recommendation
- Internship Application Document
- Verification of Academic Enrollment
- Verification of Diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes
