Dimpi Desai

Dimpi Desai, MD, Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Gerontology, and Metabolism, Stanford University School of Medicine

Research Description: Dr. Desai has been involved in clinical and translational research in diabetes for over seven years. One of her landmark studies, "Healthcare Utilization and Burden of Diabetes Ketoacidosis over the last Decade: A Nationwide Analysis," examines the escalating costs associated with hospitalizations for diabetes ketoacidosis, underlining the financial and preventive challenges at a national level. Dr. Desai was also involved in the RADIANT trial, which seeks to uncover the genetic and phenotypic markers of atypical diabetes forms, extending beyond traditional type 1 and type 2 classifications. Additionally, her published case reports provide crucial insights into the presentation of pancreatic cancer as new or worsening diabetes, proposing early diagnostic interventions. Currently, Dr. Desai’s research primarily focuses on obesity and type 2 diabetes, aiming to enhance patient care through rigorous clinical studies.
