Marwa Abu El Haija, PhD, Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Pediatrics - Gastroenterology, Stanford University School of Medicine 

Research Description: Dr. Abu El Haija is a pediatric gastroenterologist and an obesity medicine specialist. She uses her basic science research experience to build translational and clinical cohort to discover what is unknown about the pathophysiologic causes of obesity, and the mechanisms of which treatments work. During Dr. Abu El Haija’s training, her basic science research resulted in 2 peer reviewed publications, and since Dr. Abu El Haija joined Stanford, she has been able to focus on clinical treatments of childhood obesity as well as starting a successful clinical research career. Dr. Abu El Haija aspires to help with ending the pandemic of obesity and prevent associated comorbidities with research and clinical care
