Michele Patel, PhD, Instructor, Department of Medicine, Stanford University

Research Description: Dr. Patel's research optimizes digital weight loss interventions for adults with overweight or obesity. She leads clinical trials to identify which intervention components—such as goal setting and self-monitoring—promote engagement and weight loss. Her work is guided by the Multiphase Optimization Strategy, which is an engineering-inspired framework to identify the active ingredients in these interventions, resulting in more potent, scalable, and low burden solutions.
