Stephan Busque, MD

Stéphan Busque obtained his MD and did his general surgery training at the Université de Montreal. He subsequently completed a research fellowship in transplant immunology at McGill University and a clinical fellowship in abdominal transplantation at the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. He returned to Montreal to join the adult and pediatric transplant programs at Notre-Dame and Sainte-Justine hospitals. In 2001, he moved back to California to assume the surgical leadership of the Adult Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Program at Stanford University. His research interest is focused on improving clinical immunosuppression and developing immunological tolerance after organ transplantation. In 2018, Dr Busque joined a team of scientists, diabetologists, radiologists, cell therapy specialists eager to build an islet transplant program at Stanford that will develop tolerance protocols in the field.
